What Is a Lead? How It Differs from an Order, and How to Work with It
A lead is a potential customer of your business. Imagine you run a clothing store and sell both online and offline. Offline, a lead is someone who walked into your store. From that moment they become a potential customer. Work begins on turning them from a prospect into a closed purchase. Think about how consultants work with you in a store: they ask what you are looking for and try to offer different options to buy.
In online commerce, “lead” is a broader idea, because it is not always clear who is a lead and who is a casual visitor. In online sales you need to define your lead funnel. In marketing, a funnel describes the stages of working with a potential customer from first contact to sale.
Someone lands on your site and starts browsing the catalog. Technically they are a lead, but it is still hard to work with them — you only have indirect engagement tools: pop-ups with a first-purchase discount, promo codes, discounts, helper chats, and so on. You need a way to capture some information about that person so you can keep interacting with them.
Suppose you offer a promo code if they leave their contact details. If you use datalizeCRM, that person will appear in the CRM Leads section. Later, if you see they have not used the promo code, you can reach out and, for example, offer a consultation. If you successfully help the buyer, you can add the needed product to their lead right away and arrange delivery and payment.
Every business has a unique funnel, but in datalizeCRM the flow is built so successful leads convert into orders seamlessly.
